More Grumors on Rocky Top, preparation for LSU and a women’s Tennessee Vols basketball win lead the Volunteers news for Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017.

Lots of things are happening for the Tennessee Vols right now. Basketball season has started for both teams, soccer is in the NCAA Tournament, and football season is still going on.

Oh, and there’s a coaching search. But all anybody can talk about on Rocky Top is one name: Jon Gruden.

Reports have differed drastically on whether or not he has interest in the program. And we have more to bring you this morning.

But outside of rumors, we have actual news to get to as well. This includes a variety of sports, and we also have some people to honor. But let’s start with those darn Grumors.

Dave Blackburn: Gruden a viable option – Stephen Hargis, Chattanooga Times Free Press

Former UT Chattanooga athletic director Dave Blackburn, who spent 20 years in the Tennessee Vols athletic department, confirmed that Jon Gruden is a viable option for Rocky Top as the next football head coach. This came on the same day that Gruden said “Never say never” when asked on Mike and Mike about the opening in Knoxville. This only adds more fuel to the Grumors.

"Gruden, an ESPN analyst and former head coach in the NFL, has been rumored to be at the top of the university’s list of potential head coaches to replace Butch Jones, who was fired Sunday morning with two games remaining in his fifth season leading the Volunteers.Blackburn said he does not think the Tennessee-Gruden courtship is over, as some have reported."

Vols still preparing for LSU – Blake Toppmeyer, Knoxville News Sentinel

The Tennessee Vols football team has two more games left, and the LSU Tigers are this Saturday. Brady Hoke addressed the media Wednesday ahead of that match-up. He talked about some of the tweaks he made to the team and also addressed other updates.

"As for other elements Hoke will tweak, he said offensive coordinator Larry Scott will move from the booth to the sideline. Scott approached Hoke about making that switch.Hoke’s background is on the defensive side of the ball. He was Oregon’s defensive coordinator last season. But he’s taking a hand in coaching the Vols’ offense."
