Tennessee football recruiting received a very solid boost on Monday, as the Volunteers scored two big commitments at quarterback and defensive line.

It looks like the turmoil might be coming to an end, and Tennessee football can now begin to pick up the right guys for new head coach Jeremy Pruitt’s staff. After a huge weekend of visits, the Vols got a start on that Monday.

In the early afternoon, defensive tackle Kingston Harris committed to the Vols. Harris, a three-star on Rivals out of IMG Academy in Brandenton, Fla., stands at 6’4″ 260 pounds.

He announced his commitment to Tennessee on Twitter.

Getting a defensive lineman to begin restructuring his class likely couldn’t work out for Pruitt. A defensive guy himself, it’s clear he wants to mold his team into one that wins battles at the line of scrimmage.

But in addition to a key pickup on defense, Bart Harris announced his commitment to Tennessee football as a preferred walk-on. Harris made his announcement Monday night on Twitter.

A pro-style quarterback out of Belton, Mo., Harris stands at 6’4″ 210 pounds. He initially committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers but reopened his commitment following the firing of Mike Riley.

So with the pickup of a key defensive lineman and a quarterback, Pruitt had a very solid Monday. No doubt he’s looking for more splash pickups before Signing Day in February and maybe even before the early signing period.

But this is still a great start for Tennessee football the Monday after Pruitt’s first full recruiting weekend. The pickups, or at least the pickup of Kingston Harris, at least got the Vols back into the Top 60 on Rivals again for 2018.
