Tennessee basketball looks to rebound from its loss to UNC with a home game against the Furman Paladins. Here is the preview for the Volunteers’ game.

Rick Barnes’s team takes the floor again three days after a heartbreaking loss to the No. 7 ranked North Carolina Tar Heels. Standing at 7-2, No. 21 ranked Tennessee basketball hosts the Furman Paladins Wednesday night.

This is a key game for the Vols as they try to continue to build their resume in non-conference play. Currently, their only two losses are to UNC and the Villanova Wildcats, who are ranked No. 1 in the nation.

However, with such a brutal conference schedule coming up and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons next on the slate, they can’t take this Furman team lightly. This is a win they need to have. After all, they don’t want more than three losses in non-conference play this year.

Here is everything you need to know about Tennessee basketball’s showdown with Furman.

In typical Barnes fashion, Tennessee basketball is hosting a team that it should beat but one who is very good at its level. Furman is currently 9-3 and easily the favorite to win the Southern Conference this year and go to the NCAA Tournament.

So, once again, Barnes is doing a great job challenging his team and putting together the toughest schedule possible. With SEC play set to be brutal as well, he knows what he’s doing.

The NCAA Tournament Selection Committee is likely to heavily value Tennessee basketball’s scheduling at the end of the year. But the Vols actually have to win their games, and they have to run the table against these lesser teams. That makes this game crucial.
