Tennessee football recruiting: 4-star JuCo TE Dominick Wood-Anderson signs with Vols
Tennessee football scored a big splash Wednesday evening. Four-star junior college tight end Dominick Wood-Anderson chose the Volunteers over Alabama.
Jeremy Pruitt started the day with a commitment from two four-stars to Tennessee football out of the Memphis area. Then he picked up a pro-style quarterback from the West Coast. And he’s finished the day with an elite junior college prospect that he plucked right out of Nick Saban’s grasp.
Four-star tight end Dominick Wood-Anderson out of Arizona Western Community College in Yuma, Ariz. picked the Vols early Wednesday evening. He’s the third four-star to select the Vols on the day, and he was the first JuCo prospect.
At 6’6″ 255 pounds, Wood-Anderson was being heavily pursued by Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide. And in an awkward setting, Pruitt got him to Tennessee while still coaching under Saban in the College Football Playoff.
Talk about a steal!
With the departure of Ethan Wolf, the tight end position is a bit open right now, so getting a four-star junior college guy is a big boost. That brings the Vols’ commitment total to 15 guys.
After starting the day outside of the Top 60 on Rivals, Pruitt moved Tennessee football up to the Top 40 with his three early commitments. The pickup of Wood-Anderson is likely to boost the Vols even further up the rankings.
Considering where they came from that’s a huge deal. He still has a ton of work to do to get Tennessee football to where he wants it to be. And there are plenty of major guys to get when February rolls around. But at this point, the early signing period has been a major success.
