Tennessee basketball preview at Vanderbilt: Vols live stream, game time, TV info
Tennessee basketball travels to Nashville Tuesday night to take on the Commodores. Here is the official preview for the Volunteers’ match-up.
Coming off of a huge win on Saturday at home against the Kentucky Wildcats, Tennessee basketball is back on the road Tuesday night and looking to even its record in the SEC. The Vols will take on the Vanderbilt Commodores at Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville.
In danger of falling to 0-3 in the SEC, Rick Barnes’s team used an incredibly strong second half to put away the Wildcats on Saturday. As a result, they were not only able to get their first win, but they stayed in the Top 25.
With a brutal SEC schedule, the Vols will take any win they can get. A team like Vanderbilt, who has been struggling recently, is one Tennessee needs to beat.
The Commodores have played the No. 28 ranked strength of schedule, but it has cost them en route to a 6-9 record overall. Still, they’ve shown promise since the start of conference play. After all, their only losses are on the road to the Florida Gators and the South Carolina Gamecocks. And proving how dangerous they can be, they scored a huge home win over the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Remember, this team is always dangerous in Nashville. So Tennessee basketball can’t take this game lightly, especially coming off a win late Saturday night. Here is all the information you need for the game.

Right now, Tennessee basketball is in the Top 10 of the RPI despite its four losses. But at 10-4, the Vols’ No. 2 strength of schedule has been extremely beneficial to their resume. That schedule is not going to get any easier, though.
As a result, even on the road, Vanderbilt is a game they need to win. After that, they have to host a Texas A&M Aggies team that’s getting healthy again. Then they have to face the Missouri Tigers and former coach Cuonzo Martin on the road before visiting the South Carolina Gamecocks, who made last year’s Final Four.
So the schedule remains brutal, and that makes this game that much more crucial. A loss here could send Tennessee basketball’s SEC season spiraling out of control. That’s the last thing Barnes wants. And it makes this a game the Vols need to win.
