Volunteers head coach Jeremy Pruitt finishing at Alabama by delivering another championship leads our All for Tennessee Vols video show for Tuesday, Jan. 9.

The national championship has come to an end. Alabama won its fifth under Nick Saban, and that is relevant for Tennessee Vols fans everywhere given the fact that the Tide’s defensive coordinator is now the head coach at UT.

There are multiple stories that surround that, and they all lead our All for Tennessee Periscope show for today. It’s a bit of a short show, but there are key things to talk about.

On top of that, we talk a little bit more about basketball, including where both teams are ranked and what’s coming up for them. With the title game over, basketball news hits the forefront.

So get ready for one final recap of something happening in the 2017 college football season. Here’s a look at the full video show with the summary below.

1. Jeremy Pruitt, Kevin Sherrer finish up his duties with Georgia and Alabama.

Tennessee Vols head coach Jeremy Pruitt and defensive coordinator Kevin Sherrer coached in the national championship game to finish up their duties. Pruitt was defensive coordinator for the Alabama Crimson Tide while Sherrer was linebackers coach of the Georgia Bulldogs. After going against each other, they can now join forces and focus solely on their job on Rocky Top. And Pruitt walks into his first head coaching job with a mic drop by delivering a national championship. There’s a huge reason for that.

2. Jeremy Pruitt outcoached former Tennessee Vols OC Jim Chaney.

We have a post up on this right now, so there’s no reason to go into too much detail. The fact of the matter is, though, fans on Rocky Top are all too familiar with Jim Chaney. He knows how to develop players and put up great stats. But in crunch time, his offense gets stagnant. That’s what happened to him as Georgia’s offensive coordinator Monday. It didn’t help that defensive coordinator Mel Tucker, a candidate for the Tennessee head coaching job, blew the last play of the game.

3. Basketball season is in full swing.

With the national title over, basketball season and recruiting are in full swing. The Men’s Tennessee Vols dropped in both the AP and Coaches Polls as they get set to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores tonight. Meanwhile, the Lady Vols moved up one spot just before their brutal four-game stretch.
