Now this is where you get to the elite class of the conference. Nobody from here and above has lost to anybody below this spot. In fact, that made this pretty easy, as every team had a winning record. Meanwhile, the process of head to head made it easy to eliminate each one.

Right now, the Texas A&M Aggies are No. 6 in our SEC Power Rankings. Two huge wins over the Kentucky Wildcats and Auburn Tigers are commendable. With the No. 9 ranked strength of schedule, their 13-4 record and 2-1 SEC record is impressive.

These guys have quality wins over the Houston Cougars and USC Trojans. As a result, they’ve earned this No. 17 RPI ranking. And being in the top half of the conference will make you look pretty good.

Right now, their only conference loss is by two points to the South Carolina Gamecocks. And that was on the road. There is absolutely no shame in that.

However, the Aggies have to stay at No. 6 right now because they don’t really have a quality win. And where we had to put South Carolina forced us to put A&M here.

Still, national championship head coach Gary Blair has this team in good position, and they look like a lock to make their 12th straight NCAA Tournament. The question is how high a seed they will be. With home games against the Tennessee Lady Vols and Georgia Bulldogs this week, these guys have a chance to shoot up the SEC Power Rankings. But until then, they remain here.
