While South Carolina was a program-defining win for the Missouri Tigers, the LSU Tigers defeated the Missouri Tigers in a huge match-up in Columbia. Meanwhile, LSU is also 2-1 in the SEC with its only loss coming to the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

As a result, despite their 10-4 record overall with a worse schedule strength, ranked No. 50 at the moment, LSU belongs ahead of Mizzou in our SEC Power Rankings. And there really shouldn’t be any reason to debate this.

Nikki Fargas’s team got off to a rough start on the season, but they have followed that up with winning eight of nine games. It was an eight-game winning streak before that loss to Mississippi State, who is currently undefeated. So there’s no shame in that.

Simply put, these guys are coming together, and they look like they could be dangerous going forward. For now, we have no problem putting them as high as No. 3 in our SEC Power Rankings. LSU beat Missouri on the road. Missouri then beat South Carolina, who has beaten Texas A&M. That means the teams have to be ranked in that order right now since they all have only one loss, with LSU’s coming to a much tougher opponent.

But they have to keep winning to prove us right. The next three games for LSU are agains the Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida Gators and Auburn Tigers. All three should be wins. Then we can truly begin to test this team as it plays tougher opponents like the Texas A&M Aggies and, yes, the next team in our SEC Power Rankings.
