The Georgia Bulldogs have played a tougher schedule than teams like the Alabama Crimson Tide. Meanwhile, they are 14-2. That is why we have them higher in our SEC Power Rankings, and it’s why they’re significantly higher in the RPI with a ranking of No. 34.

The Dawgs don’t have any great conference wins yet, though, with one coming against the Vanderbilt Commodores and the other coming against the Kentucky Wildcats. To be fair, Kentucky is going to be good. It’s just struggling right now.

Still, Georgia also got blown out by the Mississippi State Bulldogs to open conference play. Not putting up a fight was a bit of an indictment. As a result, their No. 34 RPI ranking is certainly worthy of calling into question at this moment.

After a drop-off last year, Joni Taylor has this team looking like the first Georgia team she coached in 2015-2016, the one that made the NCAA Tournament. And this one is more built in her image, which is a solid advantage.

But there’s more to prove despite the 14-2 record. The conference will give them those opportunities, to be fair. So going forward, this team cannot rest on what it has done so far.

This week, they get two great tests. The first is at home in a game they should win against the Arkansas Razorbacks to build up their resume. Then they travel on the road to face the next team in our SEC Power Rankings. And that’ll be a tough one.
