The Tennessee Lady Vols are looking at a No. 2 or a No. 3 seed in recent bracketology projections. Where will the women’s basketball Volunteers end up?

An overtime loss on the road against the Texas A&M Aggies followed by a huge road win over the South Carolina Gamecocks still has everybody questioning exactly where the Tennessee Lady Vols belong in the NCAA Tournament. After all, they started off with an easy schedule.

Now, halfway through the four-game stretch to define them, they lost one in overtime. But their defining win came against the Gamecocks when they didn’t have A’ja Wilson. So now that just looks like a solid win, similar to the Marquette Golden Eagles.

Meanwhile, the Texas Longhorns are still their best win of the year. Regardless, Tennessee is a Top 10 RPI team, ranked No. 9 at the moment, with the No. 40 ranked strength of schedule.

And they have two more games to define them in this stretch, on the road against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and then at home against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

As of right now, though, that RPI ranking looks like it’s earning them a No. 3 seed.

Fellow FanSided site SummittHoops has the Tennessee Lady Vols as a No. 2 seed facing American in the first round. In that scenario, they’d be on the side with Notre Dame as the No. 1 seed, a team they play later this week.

Meanwhile, College Sports Madness has Tennessee as a No. 3 seed. They would face the Belmont Bruins in the first round with the Oregon Ducks and Baylor Bears as the No. 2 and No. 1 seeds respectively on that side.

With the fully healthy Gamecocks set to visit at the end of the year preceded by another home game against Texas A&M, a home game against the Georgia Bulldogs and a road game against the Missouri Tigers, the Tennessee Lady Vols still have plenty of chances to build their resume. And if they somehow win the next two games, you have to be thinking about a No. 1 seed. But after choking away the A&M game, it’s fair to have them at No. 2 or No. 3 for now, especially when you analyze their strength of schedule.
