Last week: Lost to the Kentucky Wildcats and LSU Tigers

Last rank: 13th

There’s no way around this. The Florida Gators have the worst strength of schedule overall of any team in the conference. On top of that, they are still winless and one of three teams with a losing record.

The combination of the two puts them at an abysmal No. 208 in the RPI. That makes it pretty clear. They are easily the worst team in the league right now and belong at the bottom of our SEC Power Rankings.

The Gators have put up fights, suffering close losses to the Ole Miss Rebels and Kentucky Wildcats. In fact, they could easily be 12-6 right now on the year if they could finish games. But first-year head coach Cameron Newbauer is struggling to get consistency from his team.

Still, with their last four losses all being within single digits, they’re showing signs of life. And this week, they have a shot to get a win. They visit the inconsistent Arkansas Razorbacks and then host Ole Miss with a chance to get revenge. Perhaps they could get on a run with those two games.

Or perhaps they could just avoid the embarrassment of being so bad. After all, at this point it’s hard to ignore the fact that they have nothing to play for. Given their abysmal schedule and where they already stand, an NCAA Tournament is far and away out of the question. So just breaking even and getting close to .500 on the year is about all they can hope for.
