Former Tennessee Vols defensive end Derek Barnett in the Super Bowl leads our Volunteers periscope video show for Monday, Jan. 22, 2018.

Happy Monday to everybody! It was a bittersweet weekend for Tennessee Vols fans in so many ways that we don’t know where to start.

So our video show for today began with the talk of another former Vol in the Super Bowl. And it wasn’t just any former Vol. He’s a former Vol who did on Sunday what he did for the Tennessee Vols for three years in so many ways.

However, that’s bittersweet because he has to face Tom Brady, the guy Peyton Manning fans, meaning everybody on Rocky Top, root against the most. Brady and the New England Patriots winning made it bittersweet.

The results of the weekend of basketball games also made things bittersweet. We’ll get into that as well. So as always, here is our video show with the summary below.

1. Derek Barnett delivers in a big way.

Derek Barnett will be the lone former Tennessee Vols player in the Super Bowl this year. But the rookie earned the right to represent Tennessee, and he came through in a huge way Sunday similar to how he always did with UT. We will break that down.

2. Men’s basketball reached its goal over the weekend.

The Tennessee Vols needed a split last week. They got it by beating the South Carolina Gamecocks on the road after losing to the Missouri Tigers. As a result, we can break down why Rick Barnes’s team is now in very good shape.

3. Lady Vols disappoint.

This was bad. The Tennessee Lady Vols suffered a horrible home loss to the Mississippi State Bulldogs, and now we once again have to question how good this team is under Holly Warlick.
