Last week: Lost to LSU Tigers and Georgia Bulldogs

Last rank: 11th

Just like the rest of the teams at the bottom of our SEC Power Rankings, the Auburn Tigers aren’t showing any signs of moving up to the middle tier. These guys have been on the most brutal stretch, though, of any of the teams on here right now.

Auburn’s last six games have been against Top 100 RPI teams who are in the top half of our SEC Power Rankings. Meanwhile, five of them are Top 50 RPI teams and four of them are currently in the Top 15. That’s enough for a six-game losing streak for Terri Williams-Flournoy’s team.

The Tigers no longer look like the 10-3 team they once were. To be fair, that was a 10-3 team with an abysmal strength of schedule. These last six games have gotten their schedule rank up to No. 56. But it’s exposed who they are, which is why they are No. 107 in the RPI.

Coming up, though, they might finally get a break. Auburn hosts the Alabama Crimson Tide in a huge game. If they can win that, they next face the Kentucky Wildcats on the road. That makes for two winnable games to give these guys breathing room.

However, it won’t last too long. Unless these guys can run the table against their three remaining Top 100 RPI opponents and win their two games against Alabama, at home and on the road, it’s hard to see them making any kind of noise.
