Last week: Lost to Florida Gators and Missouri Tigers

Last rank: 9th

The Arkansas Razorbacks were supposed to be in a tier above the bottom tier of our SEC Power Rankings. But they suffered losses to the Florida Gators and Missouri Tigers just like the Ole Miss Rebels this past week. As a result, their only two wins in the conference now are against Ole Miss and the Auburn Tigers.

  • Those are two bad wins, and a 2-5 record does indeed put them in the bottom tier. At least, as you can see, we have them as one of the better teams in that tier. And unlike the other teams on this list, they actually could be on the NCAA Tournament bubble.

That’s because despite their 11-9 record overall, they at least have a Top 40 strength of schedule. And that’s enough to put them at No. 82 in the RPI. Mike Neighbors is doing a decent job rebuilding this team as a result.

Now, going forward, they have a brutal test at the South Carolina Gamecocks. But then they have two winnable games against the Kentucky Wildcats and Alabama Crimson Tide. This team’s problem has largely been inconsistency this year.

They would be in amazing shape if they hadn’t blown three games against teams outside of the Top 100. Two of those were non-conference games against the UTEP Miners and Kansas Jayhawks. But this especially includes their most recent loss to one of those teams, the next team in our SEC Power Rankings.
