The return of the XFL’s effect on the Tennessee Vols and Rick Barnes as a coach of the year candidate headline our Jan. 25, 2018 Volunteers periscope show.

It started out as a slow news day for the Tennessee Vols. There’s a women’s basketball game tonight, our morning report talked about Phillip Fulmer’s comments on neutral site games, and softball preseason news was coming through.

That meant that we wouldn’t have a ton to talk about this afternoon. However, a breaking news story changed everything. The return of a football league that could significantly effect UT now leads our show.

On top of that, we also have to talk about the men’s basketball program and head coach Rick Barnes. There’s a story on him that I might not agree with.

Finally, we’ll preview an upcoming game. So let’s get it started. Here is our Tennessee Vols video show. You can see our summary of the rundown at the bottom.

1. XFL could significantly effect Tennessee Vols.

Vince McMahon announced the return of the XFL, and there are two different ways that could effect the Tennessee Vols. The first way is recruiting. The other way is how former Vols could have a shot to star in the XFL. We’ll get to both of those.

2. Is Rick Barnes really deserving of Coach of the Year?

Tennessee basketball coach Rick Barnes is a Coach of the Year candidate according to ESPN. But I express a bit of skepticism on that.

3. Fulmer raises interesting points on The Swain Event.

Phillip Fulmer was on The Swain Event Wednesday, and the discussion brought up two interesting points. The first was games at neutral fields, and the second was about the Smokey Grey uniforms.

4. Can the Lady Vols get back on track?

The Tennessee Lady Vols have an easy game at home against the Ole Miss Rebels Thursday night. They need to get back on track. Holly Warlick insists they can, but the damage is already done.
