Women’s SEC Power Rankings Feb. 6: Lady Vols move back up
The Tennessee women’s basketball Volunteers moved back up in our SEC Power Rankings. See where they stand for Feb. 6, 2018.
The Tennessee Lady Vols got back on track this past week with two huge wins, and it was enough for us to move them up in our SEC Power Rankings. They weren’t the only team to make a significant jump in this week’s standings, however.
Currently, one team in the conference towers over everybody else. Meanwhile, there is a clear team at the bottom of the conference with three others in the running for being the worst. For the most part, the standings are pretty clear this week.
That’s obviously a dramatic shift from the men’s SEC Power Rankings, where the entire league is a cluster. For the women, there are a couple of standout teams and still a bunch of teams that can move around. But it’s pretty clear where they all belong this week.
Such a makeup of a league doesn’t mean there’s no drama, though. Plenty of teams had dramatic jumps in our rankings this week. And we had a couple of others fall pretty hard. As a result, where everybody stands is very intriguing.
What’s clear is that the conference is top heavy. Half the league is in the Top 25 of the RPI, while the other half is outside of the Top 80.
All seven of those Top 25 RPI teams are pretty sure locks for the NCAA Tournament. Only two of the other seven have any chance at all to really make the Big Dance, and both need a ton of help.
So let’s take a look at who all these teams are and where they fall. These are our women’s basketball SEC Power Rankings for the week of Feb. 6, 2018.
