Last week: Lost to LSU Tigers; Defeated Ole Miss Rebels

Last rank: 2nd

The Georgia Bulldogs had been riding that second place ranking in our SEC Power Rankings for a while. And to be fair, they clearly deserved it. After all, until last week, they had only lost to one team on the year, the team that had consistently been ranked higher than them.

But last week, they lost to the LSU Tigers by double-digits. And that’s a red-hot LSU team, so the loss was enough for us to drop them to No. 3 in our SEC Power Rankings. They are still in the top tier, and we actually consider this spot a tier above the other good teams tier in these rankings.

Joni Taylor is still doing an amazing job with this team, and they remain among the elite teams in the country. Georgia has nothing to be ashamed of with its three losses, and they haven’t backed down from any talent.

Still, after that loss, they have some work to do to further prove themselves. Currently, their 20-3 record only has warranted them a No. 20 rank in the RPI due to their No. 61 ranked strength of schedule overall.

It won’t get any better at the start of this week when they host the Vanderbilt Commodores. But after that, they visit the Tennessee Vols and host the South Carolina Gamecocks. If they win both of those games, they’re a lock to finish 26-3 given how easy the back end of their schedule is.
