Last week: Lost to Missouri Tigers

Last rank: 11th

The Florida Gators don’t warrant that much more respect over the Ole Miss Rebels. They are in this spot by default, simply because Ole Miss’s losing streak has gone on much longer. And, yes, being on a three-game losing streak to Top 20 RPI teams is nothing to really be ashamed of.

However, being 10-13 on the year and 2-8 in the conference is something to be ashamed of. And having that losing record amidst one of the easiest schedules in the conference is also pretty embarrassing. It’s why we’ve had them at or near the bottom of our SEC Power Rankings all season.

To be fair, this is still Cameron Newbauer’s first season as head coach. So they were going to expect some inconsistencies. And at least they got back to back conference wins before this losing streak, which again, is a result of playing the start of most difficult stretch of their schedule.

Overall, though, they have the No. 77 ranked of schedule. That’s why they are No. 173 in the RPI and looking hideous. Simply put, there’s almost nothing this team can do short of winning the SEC Tournament to get to the NCAA Tournament.

And as we mentioned, it’s only the start of the most difficult stretch of their schedule. Up next for the Gators are the Mississippi State Bulldogs and then the South Carolina Gamecocks and Texas A&M Aggies on the road. They then close out the year against the Tennessee Vols and Georgia Bulldogs.

So their only winnable game amidst all that is after Texas A&M. It’s a home game against the next team in our SEC Power Rankings.
