Last week: Defeated Alabama Crimson Tide

Last rank: 12th

In every way, the Arkansas Razorbacks are slightly better than the Auburn Tigers and the rest of the bottom tier of the SEC. As a result, we move to a new spot in our SEC Power Rankings, and this is a weird one.

These are the teams in our bad but not as bad tier. And they also could potentially play their way towards some respect if they got on a roll.

As for Arkansas, they only played one game this past week. But it was a huge win against the Alabama Crimson Tide on the road. The win ended a four-game losing streak for the Hogs, and it got Mike Neighbors’s first team in Fayetteville back above .500.

These guys are still not good, but they now could have a chance to play for something. It’s worth pointing out that with the No. 48 ranked strength of schedule, the Hogs are No. 87 in the RPI. And they have more wins than anybody below them in our SEC Power Rankings.

So they deserved this four-spot jump, and they are now getting close to the bubble. It’ll take an unlikely roll to firmly get on there, though. Home games against the Tennessee Vols and Missouri Tigers give them the chance to do that this week. They somehow need to win both games.

If that happens, this team could look really good. But otherwise, they are likely done on the year. And they won’t be able to move up in our SEC Power Rankings.
