It wasn’t the same splash as the early signing period. But Tennessee football finished National Signing Day with a decent first class for Jeremy Pruitt.

The Vols signed 20 players, and two more are committed. It was enough for them to be in the Top 25 and in the middle of the pack in the SEC. Considering all the issues facing the program dating back to December, the level of disappointment from Signing Day doesn’t seem as bad.

Next: What went right for Vols on National Signing Day?

Just a couple of commitments to avoid such a bad day would have made things better for Tennessee football. That’s why it’s so painful for Vols fans. But as you can see, they still had a Top 20 class in two of the three major ratings. And that was with just two months to recruit when they had to shuffle the recruiting board. So it’s not all bad, and as Jeremy Pruitt said, wait until this full staff has a year to recruit.
