Women’s SEC Power Rankings Feb. 13: Lady Vols continue rising
Last week: Defeated Kentucky Wildcats and Arkansas Razorbacks
Last rank: 4th
The Missouri Tigers looked hideous in one win and dominant in another. And both came against the bottom tier in our SEC Power Rankings. As a result, they didn’t really do anything to change their status in the pecking order of the league. However, impressive play by another team was why they dropped.
Again, Mizzou didn’t prove itself with anything it did over this past week. So it only made sense that we drop this team given the other things that happened. They shouldn’t care too much about anything like that, though.
Robin Pingeton’s team can still stake its claim to a three-game winning streak, taking advantage of the easy slate on its schedule. Hey, they now got to 20 wins and have double the number of wins as losses in the conference. So this is still a good team.
And like the rest of the top half of the league, Mizzou is clearly in the NCAA Tournament. They have a No. 15 ranking in the RPI. It could be higher with a 20-5 record, but their strength of schedule is only No. 30 in the country.
So like the Texas A&M Aggies, they have work to do to get to a Top 4 seed. Two of their final four games should be sure wins against the Vanderbilt Commodores and Auburn Tigers, but Auburn is on the road. So they could be a toss-up given their recent win over the LSU Tigers. And the Tennessee Lady Vols and Texas A&M Aggies are both tough tests.
