Women’s SEC Power Rankings Feb. 13: Lady Vols continue rising
Last week: Lost to Mississippi State Bulldogs and South Carolina Gamecocks
Last rank: 13th
Just like the Ole Miss Rebels, the Florida Gators have been horrendous in conference play. The only reason they are ahead of Ole Miss in our SEC Power Rankings is due to the fact that they have one more conference win than the Rebels, and they won the most recent head-to-head match-up between the two schools.
However, Cameron Newbauer can at least say he’s rebuilding the team as its first-year head coach. The guy has a ton of work to do to get this team to be consistent, but that’s something he is able to rely on for now.
And don’t forget that outside of a blowout loss to the Mississippi State Bulldogs, this team has been competing with top-notch opponents recently. The Gators lost by single-digits to the Missouri Tigers and South Carolina Gamecocks on the road. So you can see a bit of improvement in this program.
They may have the worst RPI in the league at No. 162, and that’s due to their 10-15 record combined with their No. 56 ranked strength of schedule. But it’s clear Florida has played significantly better recently than Ole Miss.
Now, with three of their final four games against the top half of the conference, this isn’t going to last long. But to avoid the worst finish in these rankings, they will want to win their home game coming up against the next team in our SEC Power Rankings.
