Scouting Report

McRae came on the scene as a Bruce Peral recruit but excelled under head coach Cuonzo Martin.

However, it wasn’t until his junior year that McRae started being a prolific scorer. In his junior season, he scored at a rate of 15.7 points per game and had ten games where he scored 20 or more points.

It only got better his senior season as McRae increased his points per game to 18.7 which led the team. He ranks 16th on Tennessee basketball’s all-time scoring list with 1,521 points. During the same season, he scored a team-high 692 points which mark the sixth-highest in a season in Tennessee history.

How Could McRae Help?

Jordan McRae is the type of player that can fit in everyone on the court. He was seen at times playing every position on the court and was solid enough defensively to hold his own.

A common theme with this year’s team is shooting droughts and not being able to find points on a consistent basis when Grant Williams is struggling.

In the last 18 games of his career, he failed to reach double-digit scoring only twice and during that span had nine games where he scored 20 points or more. In fact, in his senior season, he had over 30 points twice.

Where in the World is McRae?

McRae was selected 58th overall in the second round of the 2014 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs. In 2016, McRae signed a deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Fast forward to August 2017, McRae signed a deal with Baskonia of the EuroLeague but have recently parted ways have undergoing shoulder surgery in January.
