Tennessee Lady Vols preview at Florida: Live stream, game time, TV info
The Tennessee Lady Vols travel to Gainesville Thursday to face the Gators. Here is the official preview for the women’s basketball Volunteers.
Despite a two-game losing streak that includes a terrible home loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide last week, the Tennessee Lady Vols are still looking at a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament according to the Selection Committee. But they still have to get back on track to continue winning if that’s the case.
Thursday night provides Holly Warlick’s team with a golden opportunity to do just that. Tennessee travels to Gainesville to face one of the worst teams in the league in what should be an easy win. At 21-6 and 9-5 in the SEC, this is a win the Vols need if they want a shot to get into the Top 4 of the SEC standings.
The win won’t do anything to help Tennessee when it comes to national respect. In fact, it could still drop them when it comes to their No. 10 RPI ranking.
However, a loss would be devastating. That’s another terrible loss, a second in three games, and three straight games overall. Here is all the information you need for today’s game.
No. 15 Tennessee Lady Volunteers at Florida Gators
When: Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. E.T.
Where: Exactech Arena; Gainesville, Fla.
TV: SEC Network Plus
Live Stream: WatchESPN
Florida is clearly in rebuilding mode under new head coach Cameron Newbauer. They have a horrific RPI, ranked No. 158 in the nation, with their 11-16 overall record and No. 57 ranked strength of schedule. And they’re fourth from last place in the conference standings with a 3-11 SEC record.
After Florida, the Tennessee Lady Vols will host the South Carolina Gamecocks, whom they beat earlier in the year when A’ja Wilson wasn’t playing. That’s a revenge game for South Carolina, but it’s going to be huge for Tennessee as well.
The Lady Vols need anther quality win to really not fall down the national rankings. On top of that, winning these final two games gets them into the Top 4 in all likelihood so they can have that double-bye.
But before they can do that, Tennessee has to take care of Florida. Given how they have played recently, that’s not a sure thing, despite how bad the Gators are.
