The Tennessee Vols men’s basketball standing right now and the women’s SEC Tournament preview leads our Volunteers video show for Monday, Feb. 26, 2018.

Happy Monday to everybody! Coming off a huge weekend of games, we have a lot of things to cover surrounding the Tennessee Vols for this week. And it starts with basketball news, both for the men and women.

After that, though, we give a quick recap of football news over the weekend, which includes the loss of one player and the potential for a transfer at quarterback. In a way, both of those things are bad news for Rocky Top.

I’ll get to each issue in detail. Here is our official Tennessee Vols periscope video show for today. As always, you can see our summary of what we talked about below.

1. Tennessee men’s basketball in great shape.

Their win over the Ole Miss Rebels was ugly, but the Tennessee Vols have all but officially clinched a double-bye. And they still have an outside shot at the regular season SEC championship, which makes this week huge for them.

2. Tennessee Lady Vols set to begin SEC Tournament.

The Tennessee Lady Vols will open the SEC Tournament as a No. 7 seed on Thursday against the Auburn Tigers. The winner of that game will go on to face the South Carolina Gamecocks, and the winner of that game will likely face the winner of the Georgia Lady Bulldogs and Missouri Tigers. I break down why Tennessee is in a great bracket for the tournament.

3. Tennessee football has personnel issues in multiple ways.

The Tennessee Vols have lost Trey Smith for spring practice due to a medical issue. That’s a huge deal because of how crucial is he is to the program for this year. But to make matters worse, they’re making a huge mistake by pursuing a graduate transfer at quarterback. I break down why both things are problems.
