Former Tennessee Vols football coach Butch Jones in talks with the Alabama Crimson Tide leads our Volunteers periscope show for Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018.

We thought our Tennessee Vols video show would focus on previewing tonight’s men’s basketball game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Well, that’s still a story, but now Nick Saban and Butch Jones have given us another thing to talk about.

A conversation between those two leads our video show on Rocky Top for today. But that’s not the only thing. We will talk about the men’s basketball program and where they stand. Our talk surrounding the team will be tonight’s game and what they still have left to play for.

So let’s get started with this newsworthy day. As always, we our summary of today’s video show is below this. Here is our episode for Tuesday.

1. Butch Jones in talks to join Alabama’s staff.

This one gave many Tennessee Vols fans quite a laugh. Butch Jones is in talks to join Nick Saban’s staff as an offensive analyst. The jokes from around Twitter are the titles he could hold, the fact that he needs to learn football, and him showing Saban how to stop Vols players.

2. Tennessee basketball has a ton to play for still.

Recent bracketology projections have the Vols as a 3-seed in the NCAA Tournament. That means that over the next two weeks, they could play their way up to a 2-seed. On top of that, they still have to clinch the double-bye in the SEC Tournament. And regular season SEC Championship is still in play as we write this. So Tuesday gives the Vols with tons to play for.

3. Tennessee basketball faces Mississippi State Tuesday night.

The Tennessee Vols have a huge game tonight at the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Considering how they’ve struggled on the road recently, and considering the Bulldogs’ red-hot recent streak, this is going to be a tough one. However, State showed cracks at home over the weekend against the South Carolina Gamecocks, so they’re beatable.
