2018 SEC TOURNAMENT TEAMS TO WATCH

Look, I know they are the three seed which means they have been one of the best teams in the conference this year, but this team hasn’t made sense all year.

This team has losses to Ole Miss and Vanderbilt but have reeled off three straight wins and starting to get hot at the right time. The Gators have phenomenal guard play, and that’s what it takes to have a deep run in March.

What a difference a year makes. The Tigers under Johnny Jones last season were 10-21 and to be completely honest they weren’t competitive with only two conference wins.

Fast-forward and new head coach Will Wade had the Tigers hanging around the bubble watch for the NCAA Tournament. LSU under Wade is going to be a scary team that will make some noise within the next couple of years.

LSU is on the list because they could go on a run in the tournament. They have six wins (Michigan, Houston, Texas A&M (2), and Arkansas) against the top 30 in RPI and Missouri at 40.

Freshman guard, Tremont Waters had three games in a row against Missouri, Vanderbilt, and Georgia where he scored over 20 points in each game. If Waters gets hot, watch out for LSU to surprise.

The Bulldogs have arguably the best player in the conference in Yante Maten. When he is having a good night, Georgia is tough to beat.

Their best win came on February 17 against Tennessee in a 73-62 game where Maten scored 19 points and added five rebounds. They also have five more wins against top 50 RPI teams.

What hurts the Bulldogs in the bubble watch for the NCAA Tournament is their three losses to teams with an RPI of 100 or worse. On December 16 the Bulldogs got beat by Massachusetts 72-62, and the Minutemen have an RPI of 237.

Georgia is scary, and when their length down low they will not be an easy out for any team in the SEC Tournament.
