March draws closer and closer to an end, and the Tennessee Vols are now fully in the middle of spring football. However, there’s no real football news to get to today for the first time in a while. In fact, we’re actually going to be recapping the Winter sports.

Yes, the men’s and women’s basketball seasons that just came to an end both produce a bit of news. As we get set to bring you today’s update on Rocky Top, that news is what leads our morning headlines.

There’s also a game to preview for tonight regarding one spring sport, and we have a coaching update to bring you. But let’s start with a recap of the men’s basketball season from one man.

Rick Barnes presser recaps basketball season – Mike Wilson, Knoxville News Sentinel

Tennessee basketball coach Rick Barnes spoke to the media Monday recapping this past season. In the press conference, he answered a lot of questions. He noted the Tennessee Vols aren’t satisfied with the season, their focus is going to be on improving conditioning and point guard play in the offseason, and the rivalry with the Memphis Tigers is coming back.

"Tennessee is scheduled to return 12 of 13 scholarship players, with guard James Daniel III graduating and leaving a vacancy. Barnes started having individual meetings with players this week, acknowledging there is always the possibility of more attrition."

Jaime Nared All-American honorable mention – Doug Feinberg, AP

Tennessee Lady Vols forward Jaime Nared was named an honorable mention to the AP women’s basketball All-American team on Monday. Nared and Mercedes Russell were the senior leaders all year for the team, and she was by far the most versatile player. A’Ja Wilson earned the honor for a third time and made first team again.

"Wilson was joined on the All-America team by UConn’s Katie Lou Samuelson, Oregon’s Sabrina Ionescu, Louisville’s Asia Durr and Mississippi State’s Victoria Vivians. Voting was done before the NCAA Tournament."
