Tennessee football’s first spring game under Jeremy Pruitt is generating lots of interest. Check out the Volunteers’ hype video for it.

With a new head coach and lots more excitement surrounding the program, Tennessee football has new buzz surrounding it. One of the side effects is a ton of interest in spring practice for the Vols this year, and nobody is holding it back.

Primary among the people pushing the hype train is head coach Jeremy Pruitt. The new leader of the program has talked about the importance of spring practice and scrimmages. And in the process, he has tried to promote the spring game like an actual game.

The school has responded. Tennessee football released a hype video surrounding the spring game.

New blood, a new coach and a new system have given the Vols newfound hope surrounding the program. As a result, there could be more excitement than usual surrounding the Orange and White game this year.

Fans likely won’t duplicate what the Alabama Crimson Tide did for Nick Saban’s first spring game in 2007. But there probably will be quite a bit more hype. Having Phillip Fulmer back in the program is probably a huge reason for that as well.

The event is scheduled for 2 p.m. E.T. April 21 at Neyland Stadium and set to air on the SEC Network. Of course, so many injuries and issues will prevent the Orange and White game from giving us any real sort of read on what the program looks like.

However, Pruitt is right. Given the state of the program and the players involved, they need to find out who the competitors are.

That’s the biggest thing about all of this spring. Tennessee football was never able to separate out the tough guys the previous few years, so this spring is the first step towards doing that. Heading into the summer, that’s more crucial than ever. And it’s reason enough to show hype behind the spring game for this year.
