The Tennessee Vols football weight room and a women’s basketball addition lead the Volunteers news for Wednesday, April 25, 2018.

We’re into the final week of April, spring practice is over, spring weather is still fighting to get here, and the Tennessee Vols are still in the midst of a ton of news. Yes, with the two major spring sports still in play and personnel moves in other sports, there’s a lot to get to.

Our morning update on Rocky Top today deals with more football news, though. This time, it’s a specific aspect of the football program that has been an issue for the past few years. And it’s crucial to get this one right.

Meanwhile, a winter sport added a new player to its program, which is huge for the future. We address that news and what it means. And finally, there is a preview of an event happening tonight that we have to get to.

Tennessee Vols remodeling weight room – Patrick Brown, GoVols247

Tennessee strength and conditioning coach Craig Fitzgerald retweeted a video on his account from the Tennessee football Twitter page about the remodeling of the weight room. As the fourth strength coach in four years and after a series of injuries the past few years, Fitzgerald has a major task of getting the Vols back into football shape.

"Craig Fitzgerald, who was hired from the NFL Houston Texans in January and previously worked at Penn State and South Carolina, is remodeling Tennessee’s weight room in the Anderson Training Center to better match the setup he wants to accomplish."

Tennessee Lady Vols add graduate transfer – Dan Fleser, Knoxville News Sentinel

The Tennessee women’s basketball program added graduate transfer forward Louise Brown from Washington State. Brown adds more depth to the post game after the departures of Mercedes Russell and Jaime Nared.

"Brown started 23 games this season for the Cougars, who went 10-20, and averaged 6.4 points and a team-leading six rebound per game. She led the team with four double-doubles for points and rebounds, and scored in double figures nine times. She shot 33.3 percent on 3-pointers (29 for 87)."

Tennessee baseball reschedules Tennessee Tech game for tonight – UTSports

The Tennessee Vols baseball team was scheduled to host the No. 20 ranked Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles in a huge match-up Tuesday night. However, weather forced it to be rescheduled for 5 p.m. tonight.

"Wednesday’s game will be streamed live on SEC Network+ (WatchESPN) and also feature a live radio broadcast on Sports Radio WNML (AM 990) / UTSports.com."
