May is here, and the spring weather is finally in full gear. It’s like the change from month to month is what made the difference. Meanwhile, Tennessee Vols news is in a brand new state as well, with spring and the NFL Draft in the rearview  mirror.

But there’s still lots of news to get to. Tennessee’s football coach and athletic director both have quotes that lead our morning news on Rocky Top for today. The addition of a graduate transfer in basketball also rounds out the major news.

At the same time, we have a recap of a game from a spring sport to bring you. to bring you. And there are previews for postseason play in two other spring sports. But let’s start this all off with Pruitt at the rotary club.

Jeremy Pruitt at Rotary Club of Knoxville – Blake Toppmeyer, Knoxville News Sentinel

Tennessee football head coach Jeremy Pruitt spoke to Rotary Club of Knoxville members Tuesday night. He spoke about connecting with the city and community, his family and faith, and expectations for his team. Here’s a bit of what he said when it comes to expectations.

"“We didn’t come here to win six games, to win seven games. We came here to build a program and put Tennessee back on the map of being the best football program in the United States. That’s why we’re here.”"

Phillip Fulmer on being athletic director – Wes Rucker, GoVols247

Tennessee Vols athletic director Phillip Fulmer went into more detail about the role of being athletic director. He told Jeremy Pruitt that he’ll be judged on Florida, Georgia and Alabama, and he also talked about what he’s focusing on. Here’s a bit of what else Fulmer said.

"“I have to keep, as they say, you know, the main thing the main thing. I’ve got to make sure I don’t get into the minutiae too much, because I have really good people here that I have found are very capable of doing their jobs.”"

Tennessee basketball adds transfer guard – David Cobb, Times Free Press

Men’s UT basketball added Richmond graduate transfer forward guard Khwan Fore on Tuesday. Fore’s addition gives the Tennessee Vols still one available scholarship to offer unless Admiral Schofield decides to remain in the NBA Draft.

"Fore averaged 11 points per game for the Spiders in the 2017-18 season. He will be able to immediately use his final year of eligibility with Tennessee."

Tennessee baseball falls to Morehead State – WKYT

The Tennessee Vols baseball team lost to the Morehead State 4-2 in a midweek match-up Tuesday night. The loss dropped them to 25-22 overall on the year.

"The Eagles wasted little time in jumping on top for good. Junior shortstop Reid Leonard extended his reached-base streak to 38 games with a leadoff double and later scored on senior second baseman’s Braxton Morris’ single. Senior Eli Boggess plated junior left-fielder Niko Hulsizer, who had singled in the frame, with a sac fly to make it 2-0."

Caylan Arnold named softball pitcher of the week – SEC Sports

Tennessee Lady Vols sophomore Caylan Arnold was named SEC softball pitcher of the week. She achieved the honor after helping them win two of three against Kentucky last weekend.

"Arnold registered two complete-game victories this weekend to help Tennessee take the series against No. 20/18 Kentucky. She allowed just one run and struck out 15 batters, including her 200th strikeout of the season. Arnold also held her opponents to a .170 batting average as she improved to 21-4 in the circle this season."

Men’s tennis Vols heading to NCAA Tourney – UTSports

The Tennessee Vols men’s tennis team opens the NCAA Tournament this weekend in Chapel Hill, N.C. This is the 27th time they’ll compete in the NCAAs.

"After a semifinal appearance in the SEC Tournament, the Vols (20-8) will face UNC Wilmington (19-4) on Saturday, May 12 at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. Seventh-seeded North Carolina (22-5) will host Campbell (17-5) in the other half of the regional bracket."

Women’s tennis Vols heading to NCAA Tourney – UTSports

While the men’s tennis team opens the NCAA Tournament in Chapell Hill, the women’s tennis team will be near them to open their NCAA Tournament play. It’s also the 27th time they will compete in NCAAs.

"The Vols (18-11) start the 64-team tournament with their first-ever matchup against Oregon (15-9) on May 11 at Duke’s Ambler Tennis Stadium. The host and 3rd-seeded Blue Devils (23-3) will face Furman (19-8) in the other contest."
