Former Tennessee football head coach Butch Jones is getting no love. An anonymous coach recently slammed the job he did with the Volunteers.

Some people have zero chill. It’s one thing for Tennessee football fans to hate Butch Jones, but the criticism runs deep for other people in the conference as well. With Lindy’s 2018 season preview hitting the shelves Wednesday, another critic came out.

This one was anonymous, to be fair. But the anonymous coach slammed the job Butch Jones did as head coach of the Vols.

Michael Bratton of Saturday Down South tweeted the quotes from the coach, which you can see by clicking here. He also talked about the state of the program and what Jeremy Pruitt has inherited, which you can see by clicking here.  To summarize, here’s the key part of the quote:

"“I just think Butch Jones did a complete horse**** job and I don’t think they had very good players. Tennessee is supposed to have talent. I think South Carolina has better talent than Tennessee and that should never happen. To say Tennessee has had top 15 classes under Butch Jones, that’s fake news. I think it was a combination of the classes being overrated and the coaches not developing the talent.”"

As you can see, there was some harsh criticism there. But it just reaffirmed what all Vols fans have been thinking for a while. It was no secret that Butch Jones blatantly and severely misused recruits, dating back to his Top 5 2014 class. There’s just no way around that.

The good news is that if this coach is right, Tennessee football still has talent on the roster. The Vols now just need somebody to develop that talent, and that’s where they may have found their guy in Pruitt.

Maybe Jones, who got slammed for not developing talent, will pick up a few things working for Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide. As a low-risk intern, there’s no better place for him to go and pick up a few more nuances on the program after all, right?

But no matter what happens, Tennessee football fans can now say they’re not alone in their anger with Butch Jones. There are just too many players to count that he misused. And yes, because of his lack of commitment to developing talent, the Vols are now not as good as teams like the South Carolina Gamecocks. It’s going to make Pruitt’s job a lot harder.
