Tennessee football is entering the summer with the roster finally reaching full strength. Here is our projection of the Volunteers’ 2018 two-deep roster.

Spring practice is over. The summer is arriving, and in that time Tennessee football will add tons more players to its roster with the combination of guys getting healthy and newcomers arriving. That means it’s time to start looking ahead to the season.

With new head coach Jeremy Pruitt and his coordinators, Kevin Sherrer and Tyson Helton, installing brand new systems on both sides of the ball, everything is still up in the air. As Pruitt said multiple times, the spring was about finding competitors.

However, Tennessee football was able to reveal some of the more elite players in the spring. And we can gauge Pruitt’s expectations for his roster with the players he has coming to campus in the summer.

As a result, before anything has happened, we are going to do an early projection of the Vols’ depth chart. We’re basing this on how guys performed in the spring and what we think Pruitt is looking for in the summer.

This projection could obviously change in time. After all, there is still Fall Camp. But that’s why it’s a projection and nothing else.

Also, since this is a two-deep depth chart, we’re going to make sure that 22 guys are named on each side of the ball. That can be a bit tricky because in some cases, particularly on the offensive and defensive lines, you can have a rotation with guys playing multiple positions. When that happens, we’ll just add another player to point out the depth.

This post is not beyond naming guys who have not yet arrived on campus either. Seniority is clearly not going to play a factor when you have a brand new coaching staff installing new systems on both sides.

So let’s take a look at what we think Pruitt is going to do in his quest to win immediately. Here is our 2018 Tennessee football two-deep depth chart projection heading into the summer, with 22 guys on offense and defense each and a few special teams spots.
