Multiple rankings related to Tennessee Vols football along with a major summer camp lead the Volunteers news for Tuesday, June 12, 2018.

It is a warm and sunny day across the United States here in the middle of June, as the first technical day of summer is right around the corner. And the Tennessee Vols keep filling us up with news despite no real activities going on.

As we get set to bring you today’s updates on Rocky Top, it’s all about football. That’s no surprise, but the sport did take a bit of a back seat in yesterday’s report. However, today we’re going to talk about third parties ranking a football official and the program as a whole.

On top of that, a camp and one player from UT attending that camp are both relative to Rocky Top. In fact, before delving into the rankings, we’re going to lead with that story since it’s more current and important to the roster.

Guarantano to attend Manning Passing Academy – Ken Trahan, Crescent City Sports

Tennessee Vols football quarterback Jarrett Guarantano is doing everything he can to earn this starting job at quarterback for Jeremy Pruitt and Tyson Helton. After outperforming Will McBride significantly in the spring, he’s now trying to get an even bigger leg up for the summer. And that’s worthy of praise. Guarantano will attend the Manning Passing Academy next weekend at Nicholls State in Thibodaux, La.

"This marks the 23rd year of the camp, one of the best if not the best of its kind in the country. As always, Cooper, Peyton and Eli Manning will share their knowledge of the game with eager campers."

Pruitt ranked 13th among SEC coachesSteven Lassan, Athlon

Tennessee football head coach Jeremy Pruitt was ranked 13th among SEC Coaches by Athlon Sports. Next to last, the only person he was ahead of was Matt Luke of the Ole Miss Rebels. Honestly, both were a bit disrespected by being behind Derek Mason of the Vanderbilt Commodores and Ed Orgeron of the LSU Tigers. And other first year coaches like Joe Moorhead of the Mississippi State Bulldogs and Chad Morris of the Arkansas Razorbacks were also inexplicably ahead of them.

"Pruitt doesn’t have any previous head coaching experience, but his ability to recruit and develop talent should help Tennessee take a step forward."

Tennessee football in All-Time AP Top 10 – Christopher Walsh, SEC Country

The Tennessee Vols football program is an all-time AP Top 10 team, coming in at No. 9, based on data compiled by SEC Country. That’s second in the SEC only to the Alabama Crimson Tide and just behind the Texas Longhorns. The data takes all the points from every season-ending ranking and adds them up.

"The All-Time AP Poll originally was compiled and organized by Charles Woodroof, former SEC assistant director of media relations, and appeared regularly in the annual SEC Media Guide."
