Knoxville, Tennessee is a football town, and there is no denying that. However, there is something special about Thompson-Boling Arena when the crowd is rocking.

Some of my fondest memories as a child is going to Thompson-Boling Arena and watching the Tennessee basketball program play in big games. Well, at the time I started getting into basketball, the black curtains sealed off the upper level.

However, there were times when Jerry Green roamed the sidelines where Tennessee basketball was in it’s prime. Guys like Tony Harris, Vincent Yarbrough, and Ron Slay were attempting to make Tennessee a great basketball program.

Now that Rick Barnes has turned the program around, it is time for the basketball program to schedule tough games. Oh yeah, Barnes has already been doing that since being the head man of the Vols. And, even before Barnes, there was a home and home series against Kansas.

In this post we are going to give our top five teams we would love to see the Vols play a home and home series against. There are some obvious choices like Kansas, North Carolina, and Memphis. Two of the teams the program has recently played, and Memphis is on the 2018-19 schedule.

The Vols should end up being a preseason top ten team. And, who knows going forward, the basketball program could become one of the best in the nation. So, playing better opponents is something Tennessee will have to do in the future.

Here is a list of the top five programs that we would love to see the Vols play a home and home series against.
