No. 7: Grade D

Barry Odom

Missouri Tigers

11-14 Overall Record

0-1 Bowl Record

Barry Odom is a faithful coach when it comes to the University of Missouri. He has been at Missouri since 2003. And, he probably wasn’t the right choice, but no one wanted to coach a Missouri.

We couldn’t move him out of the D ranking because he hired Derek Dooley. Anyone with half a brain knows you don’t do that.

Derek Mason

Vanderbilt Commodores

18-31 Overall Record

0-1 Bowl Record

Derek Mason is hands down one of the worst coaches in the SEC. Some will argue that he deserves somewhat of a pass since he followed James Franklin.

Franklin took Vandy to levels that the program hasn’t seen since the1930s. I know teams play more games now. However, Franklin led Vandy to back-to-back nine-win seasons for the first time in program history. And, he owned the state of Tennessee. There is no doubt in my mind that Franklin would have led Vanderbilt to an SEC East Championship.

Honestly. Mason came into a pretty good situation and has done nothing with it. His best season ended with an Independence Bowl loss. We look for Mason to be coaching elsewhere next season if the Commodores go 1-7 in the SEC conference again.
