Many people probably think Kirby Smart deserves to be on the “A” list. And, maybe so, however, I don’t just yet. Maybe, one day he will be in the same category as Saban. But, until he wins a National Championship, I’ll hold off.
Kirby is recruiting at a high level, so it seems that he will be around in Athens for a while. However, he did lose to Butch Jones. And, if you lose to Butch Jones, can you really be considered an “A” ranked coach? It was probably a fluke. Actually, it was a fluke. But, a win is a win, right?

Although Mullen isn’t recruiting that well at Florida, he still is at the B+ level. Plus recruiting at Florida might sound easy, but he has to compete against Flordia State, Miami, and Lane Kiffin. And, we have to be fair, it’s early in his tenure. If he can do what he did at Mississippi State, the Gators will be just fine.
Mullen did wonders with Mississippi State. And, maybe that was because they were always underdogs. It will be interesting to see how Mullen fares when he is getting everyone’s best shot.
