It was an eventful day for the Tennessee Vols on Wednesday as the football team took center stage with their new head coach in Jeremy Pruitt. Their role in the circus in Atlanta leads our morning report for today.
As we get set to bring you these updates on Rocky Top, we also have a bit of other news to bring you. This includes a former Lady Vols star and more of her successes in the WNBA along with a contract extension for a coach in another sport.

Tennessee football takes the podium at SEC Media Days – SECSports
The Tennessee Vols were at the center of attention on Wednesday at SEC Media Days under their new leader, Jeremy Pruitt, the only head coach in the conference now with no head coaching experience. That didn’t stop it from being a crazy day. Pruitt directly addressed criticism of him from one SEC analyst, gave an optimistic vibe, and provided updates on injuries, enrollments and other personnel issues. Kyle Alexander, Eli Wolf and Marquez Callaway also took part in the action.

Candace Parker named WNBA All-Star captain – WNBA.com
Former Tennessee Lady Vols star Candace Parker, now a WNBA superstar with the Los Angeles Sparks, was named a team captain for the 2018 WNBA All-Star game. She was third in votes totaled but joins Elena Delle Donne of the Washington Mystics as the two captains. The game is set for Saturday, July 28 at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn.
"ABC will televise the game between Team Delle Donne and Team Parker live at 3:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. CT."
Rowing coach receives contract extension – UTSports
Tennessee Vols rowing head coach Lisa Glenn signed a contract extension through June of 2021, according to a Wednesday announcement from athletic director Phillip Fulmer. It was noted that the 20-year head coach has consistently had the program near the top of the conference standings in recent years.
"The 2017-18 campaign was highlighted by performances in the Club 4+ and Women’s Championship 4+ events at the Head of the Charles, where Tennessee crews finished third and fifth, respectively. Additionally, the 1V8+ was named Big 12 Boat of the Week on April 19 after taking first place in the Varsity Eight Final C at the Clemson Invitational."
