Much like the Georiga game, South Carolina got out to a big lead. It turned out it was too much for the Vols to make up. It appears that South Carolina had the Vols number in past couple of years.

It was a fascinating game to watch. The first play of the game, Jake Bentley threw a 71-yard pass to guess who, Deebo Samuel. The Gamecocks settled for a field goal to go up 3-0.

The very next kick off Marquez Callaway went 101 yards to the house. Callaway also added two catches for 29 yards.

After the kick off return, the Gamecocks scored 17 points to take a 24-14 lead to halftime. The Vols scored 14 points in the third quarter but couldn’t overcome a late South Carolina score.

After a strong start to the season Tennessee football falls to 5-3 and third in the SEC East. It isn’t the end of the world but the Vols need to continue winning.

Players of the Game

Offense – Quarterback, Keller Chryst

In a game that displayed nine punts and not a lot of offensive production. Keller Chryst was 15-for-28 with 182 yards and two touchdowns.

Don’t look know but Keller Chryst ranks 11 on the list with most passing yards in the NCAA. Remember, Jarrett Guarantano started the season and played the first five games. Chryst is only 400 yards shy of leading the nation.

Defense – Linebacker, Daniel Bituli

Bituli again led the team with six tackles. After the game, Bituli stands at number 18 on the list of most tackles in the NCAA. He is having an awesome season. Too bad he wasn’t voted on one of the All-SEC preseason teams.

Key games around the SEC

Kentucky is still winless at 0-6 with a 38-21 loss to Mississippi State.

Auburn beat Lane Kiffin and FAU 31-30 in overtime.

Texas A&M fell to Vanderbilt 38-25. Maybe the SEC East is better than the West?
