This one got ugly for Tennessee football. And, quickly. Georgia ran the opening kickoff to the house. It didn’t get any better as the opening series for the Vols ended in a Jarrett Guarantano interception. He struggled all game long again. He was 9-for-25 with 130 passing yards and two interceptions.

Tennessee falls to 4-1, and that’s probably a better start than any Vol fan could imagine. However, I think it’s only right for us to pull the plug on Guarantano and start Keller Chryst.

It is probably unfair for Chryst considering his first start will be down at Auburn. But, it has to be done. Nick Saban did it in the National Championship Game and it paid off.

The Bulldogs are in the driver seat to win the SEC East, again. However, if the Vols can get a big win next week at Auburn, it could be a different story.

Players of the Game

Offense – Tight end, Dominick Wood-Anderson

Wood-Anderson played a huge game. Guarantano only threw for 130 yards and but 77 of those yards went to Wood-Anderson on the six receptions.

Defense – Linebackers, Darrin Kirkland Jr. and Daniel Bituli

Both Kirkland Jr. and Bituli had seven tackles apiece, and even though the game was out of hand, they still played good.

Key games around the SEC

South Carolina beat UCF 31-24.

Kentucky falls to 0-4 after losing to Florida 34-17.

Alabama beat Ole Miss 21-9.
