Jeremy Pruitt took a 5-1 Tennessee football team into the Third Saturday in October. Could he be the first assistant coach to beat Nick Saban? Eventually yes, Pruitt will beat Alabama, but it didn’t happen this season.

The Tide handed the Vols (5-2) their second loss of the season which isn’t surprising. However, to come within five points in Pruitt’s first season should be considered a win.

Tennessee held tight with the help of Keller Chryst and his four touchdown game. It was the running game that let the Vols down. The Tide held Tennessee to 107 rushing yards. Chandler had one of his worst games of the season. He only had 13 attempts for 49 rushing yards.

Players of the Game

Offense – Wide receiver, Jauan Jennings

Jennings had a six-catch game for 110 receiving yards. He also had two touchdowns. One was for 21 yards, and the other was for 14 yards.

Defense – Linebacker, Daniel Bituli

Bituli had an 11 tackle game, and five of those were solos. His total for the season moves up to 23 which is good enough for 34th in the nation.

Key games around the SEC

Mississippi State beat Bowling Green 37-7.

Florida beat LSU 28-11.

South Carolina beat Arkansas 24-19.

Georgia beat Missouri 31-28.
