Projected backups

Jahmir Johnson; Sophomore; 6’5″ 285 lbs; Philadelphia, Penn.

Pushing Nathan Niehaus from right behind is going to be Jahmir Johnson. A junior college transfer from Arizona Western Community College in Yuma, Ariz., Johnson is another tackle who just needs to put on weight. Right now, we have him as a guy to ride the bench. But he’s the one player who could take Niehaus’s final spot because of his experience.

K’Rojhn Calbert; r-Freshman; 6’5″ 327 lbs; McMinnville, Tenn.

K’Rojhn Calbert has the size to take somebody’s spot. But he was injured in the spring and couldn’t really pick up the system. So while he has a solid future, right now he’s just a body for Tennessee football and a guy to provide depth.

Eric Crosby; r-Freshman; 6’1″ 328 lbs; Virginia Beach, Va.

Like K’Rojhn Calbert, Eric Crosby has the size. But he’ll also need time to pick up the system. Crosby is a converted defensive tackle, and the unit is just too deep right now for him to get into the rotation. So he’s a middle of the pack backup lineman right now just for depth.

Ollie Lane; Freshman; 6’4″ 308 lbs; Corryton, Tenn.

A three-star true freshman, Ollie Lane has nothing working in his favor right now. The big thing he needs to pick up is experience, and if he does that, he’ll be able to move up this list. But as a true freshman, Lane is someb

Tanner Antonutti; Freshman; 6’5″ 269 lbs; Nashville, Tenn.

Tanner Antonutti is another three-star freshman who figures to redshirt. Unlike Lane, though, he almost has to. As we said, Jeremy Pruitt and Tyson Helton want Tennessee football’s line to be about size and physical prowess. At 269 pounds, Antonutti has to get a lot bigger to fit that mold. He needs an offseason to do so.
