Tennessee Football: Ranking games on Vols schedule by difficulty
No. 2 – September 29 @ Georgia
Coming in second on our ranking is the game against the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens. I might be the only person in the nation that hasn’t bought into what Kirby Smart is selling at Georgia. I keep saying just give it a few years, but he is making me look stupid.
Smart is recruiting at Nick Saban levels down in Athens, and it doesn’t appear to slow down anytime soon. The Bulldogs rank first in the 2019 recruiting class with five five-stars committed thus far. Second is Alabama with only one five-star.
I didn’t think the Vols had a chance last season and I don’t think they have one this season either. However, I don’t forsee Tennessee getting beat 41-0. Georgia is good, but Jeremy Pruitt doesn’t get beat 41-0.
Plus, there has been a lot of trash talk recently. Former Georgia players were bashing Pruitt from his time in Athens. Of course, Pruitt wants to win every game on the schedule, but if he can circle one, it’s the game on September 29.
This game also strikes us as one of the toughest because Georiga will be the best team they play by that point in the season. They will be faster than West Virginia and more physical than Florida. And, a lot of pressure could be on the Vols if they start out the season 4-0.
