No. 7 – September 22 vs. Florida

Surprised that Florida is this low on our list? You shouldn’t be. Look I know 0-8 is hard to come back from. And, it really is hard to argue against. However, Florida wasn’t even that could of a team last season either. Yet, most people are just writing off the Vols when it comes to the Florida game.

  • There is no question Dan Mullen did wonders with Mississippi State. At one point in his career, Mullen led the Bulldogs to a No. 1 ranking in the nation. But, so far down in Gainesville, he hasn’t impressed me.

The program is having trouble on and off the field and even struggling in the recruiting rankings. Oh, and there’s Dan Mullen handles press conferences absolutely awful. Similiar to Butch Jones.

Maybe I’m wrong, and Florida has a great year. Maybe they just have an okay year, but that still includes beating the Vols. But, I’m not ready or willing to write that game down as a loss for Tennessee football.

You can’t forget this will be the first big home game of the season and the first SEC game. Vol fans will be ready and loud to cheer on their first-year head coach. I’ve seen Neyland loud. I fully expect Neyland Stadium and the fans to be a difference maker in the Florida game.
