Tennessee Football: Ranking games on Vols schedule by difficulty
No. 5 – October 27 @ South Carolina
South Carolina’s head coach Will Muschamp got a second life with the Gamecocks, and he is making the most of it. His first season in Columbia he led the Gamecocks to a 6-7 record followed by a 9-4 record, and it easily could have been better.
South Carolina could have won two more games which would have gave them eleven wins on the season. They fell to Kentucky early in the season 23-13 and almost beat Texas A&M at College Station.
Will Muschamp delivered a No. 18 recruiting class in 2018 and currently has his team No. 17 in the 2019 class. The Gamecocks are on the rise and are going to be a tough out next season and years to come.
Jake Bentley is coming into his third season at quarterback. With the progressions he has made, he is looking to compete for the title of the best quarterback in the SEC. Last season Bentley threw for 2,794 yards on 394 attempts. He had an 18:12 touchdown-to-interception ratio with a 130.7 QBR rating.
This game becomes difficult because it is on the road and trying to stop Bentley and First-Team All-SEC wide receiver Deebo Samuel will not be simple. I’m not putting it down as a loss for the Vols, but they will have to play their best game to win.
