No. 2 – Ty Chandler, Running Back

Coming in at the number two position is running back Ty Chandler. He is coming into his second season on Rocky Top and should be the favorite to get the starting job. Chandler is one of those players as a coach you just have to find ways to get the ball in his hands.

At any given moment, he could explode for a big play or even a touchdown. Looking back on last season, I am not sure how he and John Kelly did not put up better numbers. Oh….yeah I forgot, Butch Jones was a moron.

Just as dynamic Chandler was running the ball, he was even more effective on kick returns. He was not Evan Berry level, but very respectable indeed. Chandler had 17 returns for 416 yards and one touchdown. On the ground, he rushed for 305 yards on 71 attempts with two touchdowns.

We all saw what he could do with being the lead back, just ask Kentucky. With what should be an improved offensive line and even better quarterback play, Chandler could run for 400 against the Cats. Okay, 400 might be a tad too much, but there is no telling just how good he can be.
