Game 9: Charlotte 49ers at Tennessee Volunteers

Saturday, Nov. 3; Neyland Stadium; Knoxville, Tenn.

Caleb Calhoun

Tennessee football’s newfound momentum after a huge upset over the South Carolina Gamecocks will carry over into this game. The Vols will be riding high at homecoming, and Charlotte, another horrible team from last year who went 1-11, has no chance.

Brad Lambert’s program is having a tough adjustment to FBS play, which is understandable. This will not be the game to help with that.

Winner: Tennessee (5-5, 2-3)

Billy Williford

This game falls in the ideal spot. After the hardest five-game span in the nation. I feel sorry for Charlotte in this game.

I think the Vols will start off slow but then turn it on and blow the 49ers out of the stadium.

Winner: Tennessee (4-5, 1-4)

Garrett Sanders

Tennessee football will be on a five-game losing streak here. If they lose another game, they’ll miss the postseason. But Jeremy Pruitt will keep them focused. The Vols can’t take this game against Charlotte lightly, and I expect it to be like the ETSU and UTEP games.

The younger guys will get a lot of reps, the game plan will be to execute on offense and defense, and to make as little mistakes as possible. The starters will need to get a break in this game. It’ll be an easy win to break the streak.

Winner: Tennessee 3-6 (0-5)
