Game 5: Tennessee Volunteers at Georgia Bulldogs

Saturday, Sept. 29; Sanford Stadium; Athens, Ga.

Caleb Calhoun

Coming out of September with a 3-1 record will be a huge accomplishment for the Vols. They’ll be riding high after their win over the Florida Gators heading into Athens to face the Georgia Bulldogs. But this is where reality sets in.

The Dawgs are actually very young, so Jeremy Pruitt’s team will give them a scare early. Kirby Smart’s team will have too much talent, though, and will pull it out in the fourth. But this game will be closer than the experts think despite last year’s 41-0 loss.

Winner: Georgia (3-2, 1-1)

Billy Williford

No chance Tennessee football beats Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs. However, they won’t loss 41-0, I will guarantee that. I feel like somehow Pruitt is going to keep games closer, but Georgia will get the win.

Tennessee football’s embarrassing loss at home to the Bulldogs last year was where we saw the team completely fall apart.  This team won’t duplicate that result with Jeremy Pruitt as head coach and all the leaders the Georgia Bulldogs lost on their team heading into the season, even if they do have a lot of young talent. The key is for Tennessee is to keep playing. Georgia will most likely land the first few punches, but the Vols can’t quit.

Although the motivation is always to win, if Jeremy Pruitt can get these guys not to give up, this could be a confidence builder. Who knows? If they do just that, they might pull an upset. Don’t expect that to happen though. Georgia will still most likely win.

Winner: Georgia (2-3, 0-2)
