No.1 – Vols will win eight games in the regular season

Speaking of an eight-win season. Coming in at number one for our bold predictions for the 2018 Tennessee football season is the Vols will win eight games.

Here is how the season would have to play out to reach the eight-win mark.

Sept. 1 vs. West Virginia – W/L

Sept. 8 vs. ETSU – W

Sept. 15 vs. UTEP – W

Sept. 22 vs. Florida – W

Sept. 29 at Georgia – L

Oct. 13 at Auburn – L

Oct. 20 vs. Alabama – L

Oct. 27 vs. South Carolina – W/L

Nov. 3 vs. Charlotte – W

Nov. 10 vs. Kentucky – W

Nov. 17 vs. Missouri – W/L

Nov. 24 at Vanderbilt – W

I think everyone is comfortable chalking down Georgia, Auburn, and Alabama as losses. If that is the case, there are nine games left to win eight games. As pointed out above the ETSU, UTEP, Florida, Charlotte, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt games are all must wins.

That is how the Vols get to six wins. Which would mean they would need to win two out of three against West Virginia, South Carolina, and Missouri, which should be doable.

Winning eight games in Pruitt’s first year as a head coach would be undoubtedly one of the best achievements in the past decade. As fellow editor, Caleb Calhoun pointed out earlier today; there is talent on paper; now they just have to prove it on the field.
