Tennessee football vs. WVU: 5 Mountaineers to watch for against Vols
Finally, starting quarterback Will Grier makes our list of five Mountaineers to watch during the season opener. You may remember Grier was at Florida during the 2015 season where Flordia was down 27-14 with ten minutes left in the fourth quarter, and somehow, someway the Gators won that game.
Grier threw a 63-yard touchdown to Antonio Callaway to take a 28-27 lead with one minute left in the game. After being popped for PED usage, Grier found his way to West Virginia.
With the Mountaineers last season, Grier threw for 3,490 yards on 250 completions. He also had an impressive 34-to-12 touchdown to interception ratio. Grier is a reasonably accurate passer, and he finished the season with a 64.4 completion percentage.
This season, Grier has been receiving a lot of hype. In fact, some people believe he can lead the Mountaineers to a College Football Playoff appearance and even win the Heisman Trophy.
If Grier is on his game, it will be hard for the Volunteers to slow down the Mountaineers offense, but if they can get pressure on Grier, it could be a different story. He has been known to throw a few interceptions. Last season against the Oklahoma State Cowboys, he threw four interceptions.
